Gresham Middle School’s vegetable garden and native landscaping was established in the Spring of 2025 by the YGEP by request of Mr. Vincent Dave, a STEM teacher dedicated to offering unique opportunities for his students. The YGEP teaches Mr. Dave’s STEM students the basics of gardening on a weekly basis during their daytime elective periods, everything from soil health to season extension and post harvest processing. Students played an active role in establishing the garden space and now play an active role in maintaining the space while getting hands-on enrichment. The YGEP also supports the efforts of Mr. Dave’s afterschool Roots and Robots club, a club focusing on the intersection of nature and technology, leading them through the process of designing native landscapes in other areas of the campus.
