The YGEP first connected with New Hopewell in the Summer of 2024 when they requested support with a couple of the outdoor spaces they have on their campus: a wooded nature trail, a native landscape in need of upkeep, and several fruit trees planted in the front of their campus. The YGEP conducted their standard staff survey and determined a vegetable garden would be the best way to engage students and teachers in these outdoor spaces. It has helped to upkeep the previous spaces since 2024, and plans to establish a new vegetable garden in the Spring of 2026 as a central hub for all of their outdoor spaces.
