On September 3, 2025, the Knox County Community Gardens and Growers’ Alliance had the honor of joining Mount Zion Baptist Church (Mount Zion) and Community Evangelistic Church (CEC) in East Knoxville for the dedication of their new community garden, lovingly named “God’s Garden.” This celebration was led by community leader and Associate Pastor Vivian Williams of Mount Zion and Pastor Reginald Strong of CEC. Together, Mount Zion and CEC are stepping forward in partnership to cultivate not only fresh food, but also hope, healing, and connection for their congregations and neighbors. Located at 2615 Brooks Avenue, God’s Garden is set to be a place where faith and food grow side by side.
This dedication is more than the start of a new garden—it is the beginning of a shared vision. With the support of the Knox County Community Gardens and Growers’ Alliance, Mount Zion and CEC are modeling the power of collaboration, showing how churches and community partners can unite around food justice and land stewardship. God’s Garden will help increase local access to fresh, healthy produce while also serving as a hub of fellowship, education, and service. We are grateful for the leadership of Pastors Williams and Strong, and we look forward to seeing God’s Garden flourish as a beacon of nourishment and community strength in East Knoxville.
