Miller Heritage Community Garden Grand Opening

April 17 @ 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm

Community members celebrating the grand opening of Miller Heritage Community Garden with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and outdoor activities.

You are warmly invited to join the Knox County Community Gardens and Growers Alliance for the official grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony of the Miller Heritage Community Garden in the Western Heights Neighborhood at 1311 Jourolman Avenue at 5 PM on Friday, April 17, 2026. See flyer attached.

This special moment marks more than just the opening of a new garden. It represents a continued investment in community sustainability –  access to affordable fresh produce and healthier lives. The lots were generously donated by Sandra Davis-Bullis, whose family has owned the property for more than 100 years. In honor of that enduring legacy, the space has been named the Miller Heritage Community Garden.

The Garden features 29 raised beds that will be available for adoption by neighborhood residents, creating opportunities for individuals and families to grow their own fresh, healthy food. We are also proud to partner with the Western Heights Baptist Center (WHBC) and its Youth Program to provide hands-on educational experiences, while helping supply fresh produce to the WHBC Food Pantry and the community.

We invite you to attend this groundbreaking ceremony and celebrate this pivotal moment for the Western Heights, Mechanicsville, and Lonsdale communities. Together, we are continuing the Knox County Community Gardens and Growers’ Alliance’s mission of addressing food insecurity and strengthening community connections across Knox County.

We appreciate your support and  hope to see you there as we plant the seeds for a healthier, more connected future.
