Miller Heritage Community Garden Volunteer Day
On a beautiful Valentine’s Day, community members, including JB Jones with his handy tractor, gathered to build, place, and fill 30 4’ x 8’ raised beds – 29 for the brand-new garden at 1311 Jourolman Ave, located behind Beaumont Magnet School and in front of the Western Heights Baptist Center (WHBC), and the 30th raised bed for the WHBC Youth Garden.
The use of the lot is being generously donated by Sandra Davis Bullis, whose family has owned the property for more than 100 years. In honor of that legacy and her father and grandfathers, the space has been named the Miller Heritage Community Garden.
The 29 raised beds will be available for adoption by neighborhood residents. We look forward to partnering with WHBC and its youth program to provide hands-on educational opportunities, as well as supplying fresh produce to the WHBC Pantry.
Stay tuned as we watch this garden grow in its first season—and join us at 5:00 PM on Friday, April 17th, for the ribbon-cutting grand opening and welcoming celebration!
