Invasive Clearing Volunteer Day at Miller Heritage Community Garden

Invasive Clearing Volunteer Day at Miller Heritage Community Garden

The Alliance was excited to welcome our friends from the UTK Community Garden Club back for another volunteer workday, this time joined by members of the Alpha Omega Epsilon (AOE) sorority for women in STEM. Led by President Andy Wattanaskolpant and Vice President Drew Hogan, the Community Garden Club has partnered with the Alliance on several projects at both the Pastor Richard S. Brown Jr. Community Garden and the Miller Heritage Community Garden.

More than 20 volunteers spent their Sunday evening helping clear an overgrown tree line bordering the garden. Their hard work made a tremendous impact by removing aggressive vines and other invasive woody plants that threatened to encroach on our growing spaces. Thanks to their efforts, significant progress was made in protecting and expanding this valuable community resource.

The Alliance is grateful for their continued partnership, dedication, and positive energy.
