Clark Family Club at Five Points
Est. 2024
Garden Liaison: Haley Bauman, Joe Meady
Spaces Supported: Vegetable Garden
Student Engagement: Afterschool Garden Club
In the Spring of 2024, the YGEP established a vegetable garden at the Five Points Boys and Girls Club with support from the club’s Director and staff. The garden has since become a key facet of the club, which is located in the heart of the Five Points Neighborhood. Students at the site have the opportunity to participate in a weekly Garden Club, where the YGEP leads them through the vegetable growing process from seed to harvest. Each season, students decide what they want to grow, learn how to plant and tend to their crops, and check on the garden regularly, even outside of “Garden Club” time. The YGEP is proud that the garden has become a highlight of Club tours and loves to continue to engage students who are also involved at school-based sites in this afterschool setting.
